When life happens, it is common for people to send thoughts and prayers toward people and situations. Thoughts and prayers are powerful and awesome! - but if our activity as people of faith ends there, we fail to live out our calling as God's people to thoughtfully and prayerfully ACT on God's behalf in the world, to do the actual work of building and revealing God's realm in the world, in our midst.
Yet as people of faith, sometimes acting on our thoughts and prayers is a real challenge! What, truly, is the right thing to do in a situation? How do we decide and discern what is the "right next step"? These are challenging questions that too often trip us up in what Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called "the paralysis of analysis."
Think+Pray+Act is many things, but at heart we provide resources and infrastructure for people of faith to discover and live out what God is calling us to do in the world. We focus our work around three main things:
1. equipping God's people to be informed in faith by providing solid biblical and theological resources and learning opportunities with a focus on open access theological resources
2. living out our faith in action via connecting God's people with faith-based and other community organizing groups and networks, with an emphasis on connecting God's call in people's lives with long-term structural societal change to build and reveal God's realm in our midst
3. supporting the above with rhythms of spiritual practices that sustain us through the challenging work of long-term structural societal change
None of this can happen in a vacuum.
